Job Summary
The Warehouse Worker is responsible for day-to-day shipping/receiving, material handling, and loading/unloading trucks. Timely and accurate movement of materials and products through the production area and staging areas. Maintaining a safe work environment and adherence to PPE, HACCP and GMP’s requirements.
Responsibilities
- Observation of all safety requirements, including PPE
- Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), which includes maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
- Maintaining forklifts, hand-trucks, pallet-jacks daily by inspecting batteries, water levels, lights, horns, tires, mirrors, oil levels, backup beep indicators, and ensuring all parts are in good working condition.
- Verify deliveries/discrepancies by inspecting materials by physically counting and comparing the amount printed on the delivery report.
- Enter delivery receipts or material handling movements in ERP system.
- Organize and rotate old material with new.
- Ensure FIFO is being maintained with product staging. Rotates date- sensitive stock to the front of the rack.
- Check production schedules daily to stage packaging and materials properly.
- Assist warehouse manager/lead with inventory balances through physical cycle counts.
- Locates proper storage racks, sets pallets in place with forklift or pallet-jack or hand stack items on pallet, enter production data and location into database.
- Performs count checks of incoming freight in the staging areas.
- Removes empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the proper
- area or receptacles. Inspects empty pallets for damage, stack and move pallets with pallet jack or forklift to the proper storage area.
- Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies and procedures per company guidelines.
- Ensure the work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately.
- Meets required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
- Works from receiving sheets, computer print-out, established procedures and practices, written and/or verbal instructions.
- Inspects items for damage, performs temperature and quality checks and takes appropriate action as needed.
- Label any open or partial ingredients or packing materials properly.
- Must be able to operate a forklift and to be certified annually for forklift license.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adherence to governing bodies requirements, FDA, USDA, OSHA, HACCP. Bilingual is a plus.
Qualifications
- Preferred 3 years as a forklift/material handler in a warehouse environment.
- Preferred 3 years of Manufacturing, Food Industry.
- Ability to be forklift certified and maintain certification annually.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs continuously throughout the shift.
- Ability to follow all safety and PPE requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Food processing, warehouse and food laboratory environment.
- The environment may be wet or dry.
- Temperatures may range from 38°F to 80°F.
- Exposure to hazardous materials.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, reach and occasionally lift of up to 40 lbs. may be required.
- Production demands may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
